Fake ID racket busted in Ecopark, accused linked to Bangladeshi infiltrators

A man has been arrested from the Ecopark area of Newtown for allegedly making fake identity cards for Bangladeshi infiltrators. The accused, identified as Mohammad Ziauddin Mandal, is a resident of Ghuni Panchayat under the jurisdiction of Ecopark police station. He was taken into custody by Rahara police after his name emerged during the interrogation of three infiltrators previously arrested from Panihati.

According to investigators, Ziauddin was running a fake ID racket, preparing forged Aadhaar cards and other documents in exchange for money. These fake documents were reportedly used by Bangladeshi nationals to establish false Indian identities and settle in different parts of the state. The accused was presented before Barrackpore court on Sunday.

The police are now probing whether there is a larger network behind this operation and if any administrative insiders are involved. Authorities are also investigating possible links to passport fraud and checking how deep the racket runs. This development has raised serious concerns over security lapses and document verification systems.

Efforts are on to trace other individuals possibly connected to the gang. Surveillance has also been tightened in and around Ecopark and nearby locations where such illegal activities might be taking place.
